Yakima County School Census Records
This is an alphabetical index of the Census of School Children that was taken for the Yakima County Schools Educational Service District 105 from 1894 through 1932. Included is a fragment for the Toppenish School District for 1935. Missing are the census records for the Yakima City School District #7, which the City of Yakima destroyed many years ago instead of turning them over to the State Regional Archives. The alphabetical index includes only the child's name and the year they appear in the census. This census covers children between the ages of five and twenty-one. The actual census included the date of the census, the names of parents or guardians, the name of the child, the birth date and sex of the child, how many weeks they attended school, the post office address and the signature of the parent or guardian. The extracted records for these censuses are on the computers at the YVGS library. To request a copy of the information on the extracted record, please use the form located here. The original records are held by the Washington State Regional Archives in Ellensburg. These original records have also been digitized and can be viewed at Family Search. Please use the table below to find a student in the index.
